About FAMILY LAW MATTERS

Family Law Matters is an all-female Family Law team.  We have chosen to dedicate our careers to the practise of Family Law so you benefit from our expertise.  Our motto is,

“With our knowledge of your rights and responsibilities, we ease the pain of separation”.

Commenced as a result of recognising a need for a practical and sensitive approach to Family Law matters, the Principal Solicitor, Antonella Sanderson, envisioned creating the best Family Law boutique practice in Sydney.  Antonella says:

“Our philosophy is that it is in our client’s interests to settle their matter in a way that is fair, sensible and practical, and that their legal costs reflect this manner of settlement.  We achieve this by approaching each matter in a sensitive and practical way, by empowering our clients with the knowledge of their rights and responsibilities, and securing a cost-effective, reasonable result”.

Family Law Matters have an enviable record in achieving sensible settlements for our clients.  Antonella says:

“We are proud that most of our matters settle before even reaching a courtroom.  Of those that do proceed to Court, we have been able to settle around 95% without having to run a full Hearing.”

Antonella and her all-female team respect that this is an emotional and difficult time for you.  As a team, we treat our clients with sensitivity. 

With a strong social justice and community focus, the solicitors at Family Law Matters are members of various local legal and business committees and organisations, and we volunteer our time to local Community Legal Centres.  Antonella is a member of the Law Council of Australia Family Law Section.

Finally, at Family Law Matters, we strongly believe in attaining a proper work-life balance.  Antonella says:

“We have love doing what we do, it’s our passion.  I can’t imagine working anywhere else, or doing anything else.  All of us have a life, and it shows.  It’s likely you’ll come to our offices and witness us blatantly enjoying ourselves – we laugh, we cry, we listen to music we enjoy.  You may hear my daughter, or our staff’s children, in the office.  That’s just how it is with us.  We enjoy today and look forward to tomorrow.  Our clients are our partners and allow us to be who we are.”

It is our vision to:-

• Assist our clients through the maze of family law in a manner that is informative and gives freedom of choice;
• Provide a premium professional service in a way that is sensitive and tailored to each client’s needs;
• Give our clients options and encourage them to settle their matters in a way that is fair, sensible and cost effective
• Make a reasonable income for the time that we spend working on our matters, and to support the volunteer and charity work that we undertake. 

The way we will do this is:

• Listen to our clients – we are not counsellors, but we do listen in a sensitive way;
• Use our resources and tailor them to the client to provide our client with the best outcomes for their individual situations;
• Ensure our knowledge of the law is up to date and we have the references we need to achieve that;
• Provide our clients with individual advice that is helpful and relevant to their situation, to make sure there are no nasty surprises and no unreasonable expectations;
• Provide our clients with written advice about their options and consequences;
• Be selective about the cases we take - make sure our clients have reasonable expectations about outcomes, about costs and the payment of our costs; and
• To volunteer our time for the benefit of the community and to give access to justice to those who might otherwise be unable to access a fair result.
